Braggart!

“Tell me a little about yourself.”

Tongue tied, sweaty palm, raspy voice

“Who Me?”

So much to tell, so little to share

Do I dare to unlock the box

To take pride in it all, even the rocks?

Braggart!

Liar!

Fraud!

Who do you think you are?

I think, no I KNOW I am me

Courageous

Magnificent

Beautiful

ME!

Save Me

Image

Poker face, play the smile

Gaze at me, steel eyes plead

Speak to me of dreams and sorrows

Love is time, time is love

Save Me

A Little Piece of Your Time

Save Me

A little space in your mind

Save me the corner booth with cobwebs spun

Save me laughter and sorrow

A sidelong glance

Save me a song, perhaps even a dance

Maybe a rose, even with thorns

Save me, save me

Gentle on the mind

Once Upon My Time

Image

Someone To Tell Our Story To

The story is told by firelight of one dark and stormy night,

Of once upon a time

Maybe even the nursery rhyme.

Lilt and cadence,

Letters arranged on paper, with lines straight and curved, printed and script

Someone to hear our story is one of life’s greatest needs

Lift the pen!  The universe heeds

The story is told from only a seed

A story only one can tell.

Line and lilt and perhaps a brogue

Tells a story only our hearts can hold.

Journey to the Joy Road

Image

Journey To The Joy Road

I took a walk along a lonely path paved with hurts of old,

Shadows dark and wind so cold blew through the trees so stark

The light was dim, although it shone upon my heart so fair

Peace it seems, peace was missing on the path of old.

The path less traveled lie before me, new journeys and steps to take

One foot in and one foot out

What if the hokey pokey really is all that it is about?

What if I fail?  What if I succeed?  What if I don’t know how?

What if, what if, what if indeed. . .

What if instead, I merely chose to believe?

I took the path less traveled with its whispered roars

Raised the shades, swung open the doors

The path is lined with blooming hearts and a Phoenix oh so rare

Technicolor life and love exists when I walk there.

The journey to joy road is lined with baby steps and braveheart leaps

Fears faced down and dragons slayed

Peace ENOUGH for me to keep.

Steady As He Goes Down

Steady As He Goes Down

Take a swig to settle your nerves
Calm in a flask
Empty promise in the form of J.D and Turkey wild
Sleep like a baby. Shake like a leaf
Infant without mother’s milk, feeding not to miss
For thirst is need and need is met at the bottom of the aqua flask.
Why are you ill? Why they ask. . .
Breath of whiskey, putrid mask
Descends upon me like a mask. Steady As He Goes Down

Phoenix Uprising

Phoenix Uprising

Sing to me of dreams realized
And love fulfilled
A glass half full and a joyful life
Of rainbows after the rain
Of a reason for the pain

The heart is loyal, the mind betrays
The embers burn, the ribbons fray
A cup of courage
Fresh courage take!
Drink long, drink deep
Phoenix, you are only asleep

Awaken!  Rise and take your place!
The sun is shining, show your face
You are love and love is you
Enough you are, ENOUGH are you

Phoenix song on strands so thin
The harp is playing from deep within
Release your fire; let it burn strong
Phoenix rise!  You’ve been asleep too long

In The Bright Darkness

Image

In the bright darkness, lightfall blinds

Touch sears

Silence roars

Just breathe, they say

Calm down, just let it go

If I let go, I’ll lose me

If I lose me, I’ll lose you

If I lose you, what comes next?

Fear pours from pores

Don’t stand so close to me

Don’t stand so far away

Stop talking!

Why don’t you ever talk to me?

Touch me. . .no, not like that

Cock the trigger and disengage

The universe of the mind

A universe not of my choosing

Chemical depression they call it

A lab rat, laid open for dissection and analysis

Talk me down

Take a breath

In the bright darkness, the lightfall blinds
